W5 - Personal Utopia: Designing Your Ideal Society

Image
Utopia, a flawless dimension that does not exist in any society in the current real life world, whereby every resident was satisfied and happy unanimously (Cambridge Dictionary, n.d.); a space whereby there are no societal problems that will pressure everyone, regardless if it has a direct or indirect impact towards their lives. Currently, it is a space that people can hardly reach even if they have achieved financial, time, and physical freedom. For me, a personal utopia, is going to be similar to the time back to the Shôwa Jidai ( The generation of Showa), an era that is full of retro and nostalgic elements. I will attempt to recreate the life of people back in the days where they embraced and cherished each other in workplaces, families, and friend groups which makes a big difference between current’s urban city’s individualistic culture. Japan Experience (2019) stated that the Shôwa era (1926–1989) is the longest in Japan history, with 63 years of sovereignty under Emperor Hi...

W4 - A World Without Borders

National Geographic (n.d.) declared that a national border is a line, either actual or imagined that divides grographical regions. It serves functions such as outlining the domain within the jurisdiction of a specific governing entitiy, A region's government is limted to enactinf and enforcing laws inside its boundaries (paras. 1 & 2). If there were no borders, it would be just like a mssive car traffic without traffic lights, dangerous and chaotic; however, this does not mean that only terrible things could happen.      Firstly, there would be drastic changes happening within diverse cultures of multiple nations. Once the national border is abolished, the physical barriers between countries will disappear. People from different countries enjoyed the freedom to access other countries without spending time queuing up to bypass the national customs borders. Within years, the world will be achieving the mingling of multiple cultural exchanges. For instance, Germans are...

W3 - The Future of Work: Jobs of 2050

Image
Even if 2050 is still 26 years away, there is still much work to be done, and each country's rate of progress cannot be ignored. The potential of blockchain technology, artificial intelligence (AI), technology, animal adaptation for the workforce, and other advancements is often touted in academic conferences and news stories. Have you ever heard of tarot cards? Tarot card, also known as oracle card reading is an activity invented back in the 1430s in Italy (Parlett, 1999, para. 1). This was a tool that was effectively used by people for self-reflective purposes and guiding people when they were facing uncertainties and obstacles in life. However, there was a group of people who argued that tarot cards should not be a tool to analyze future events. This is because of various reasons such as different religious beliefs, lack of scientific facts, and lack of support for logical reasoning.  Perhaps, someone with knowledge about Artificial Intelligence and Tarot Readings can implement ...

Week 2 - Creating a New Social Media Platform

Image
ConnectAbility is a brand-new social media platform that was specifically designed for handicapped, physically, and mentally impaired people. This social media platform is intended to unite everyone with ID (intellectual disability).                         According to Leach (2020), social media is used by 5.07 billion people worldwide, or 62.6 percent of the total population. There are an estimated 590 million handicapped users on social media if we take into account that 20% of the population has a disability (Petrosyan, 2024; Leach, 2020, paras.12 & 13). The proximity of the difference of users of social media might increase gradually, hence potentially fostering a greater digital divide if this scenario continues to occur. This social media platform is designed to connect the intellectually...
